Cold Weather Hair Heroes

As the temperatures drop so does the moisture in the air, leaving many of us struggling to keep moisture in our strands.  Less moisture leads to more frizz, static, dryness and breakage.   What can you do to combat winter hair woes?  Keep reading for our easy-to-incorporate tips to update your hair ritual to keep your scalp + hair healthy and hydrated all winter long.

1) Use a hair oil 1x a week as a pre-shampoo treatment and as the last step in your styling routine to seal in moisture

If you aren't using a hair oil yet, you are missing out.   This is by far the easiest way to seal in moisture, add shine and deliver nutrients to your scalp and strands.   Look for a silicone-free oil rich in biomimetic fatty acids to ensure your hair is reaping the benefits.  Don't waste your money on oils that have been highly processed, as these have essentially been cooked in the microwave and are devoid of nutrients.  Instead, reach for cold-pressed oils rich in nutrients that can be used for scalp treatments, styling and finishing.  These oils will be lightweight for all hair types.  Avoid anything with coconut, castor or jojoba oil as these can be too heavy for everyday use.

2) Scalp serums are your BFF

Cold weather can dry out your scalp and hair. Incorporating Cake Restorative Scalp Tonic will help hydrate and restore the skin barrier.  Not to mention the peptides and stem cells will feed your follicles for less shedding.

3) Deep condition weekly

Using Eros Resurrection Hair Mask once a week will help to moisturize, strengthen and restore shine to hair that has lost it's luster from cold winds, dry air, and indoor heating.

4) Use Milk as the foundation to your styling routine

Milk Anti-Frizz Treatment provides extra protection throughout the day by creating a shield against environmental stressors while keeping your hair soft and manageable.  Apply wet, dry, clean or dirty and as often as you'd like.

5) Limit heat styling

Cold weather can already make hair prone to dryness and breakage, so reducing heat styling can help maintain your hair's natural strength. If you do use heat, always apply a heat protectant like Milk Anti-Frizz Treatment or Ever Recovery Oil

6) Switch to silk

Cotton robs your hair of it's natural oils during your precious hours of beauty sleep.  Silk reduces friction that can lead to breakage and frizz while leaving your hairs moisture intact.
